The Director of Social Media is responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that align with client objectives, staying ahead of industry trends, and managing client relationships. It involves leading a team of social media specialists, overseeing content creation and influencer campaigns, analyzing performance data, and fostering collaboration across teams. Additionally, the position includes mentoring talent, managing budgets, and contributing thought leadership to enhance the agency’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Strategy & Planning
- Setting social media strategic and tactical direction in collaboration with cross-functional account teams and clients.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive social media strategies aligned with clients’ business objectives.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms and adjusting strategies accordingly.
- Managing client relationships. Present social media strategies, trends, performance, and recommendations.
- Managing project budgets, maintaining clear communication with clients to ensure transparency, alignment with objectives, and efficient resource allocation.
- Content Management & Analysis
- Overseeing creation and management of content strategies for multiple clients across various industries.
- Directly managing and executing all creator content, working closely with external partners to brief, review, and finalize content.
- Supervising influencer campaigns end-to-end, including strategy, sourcing, contracting, briefing and finalizing content.
- Distilling social data and insights into actionable strategies that align with client goals to improve performance.
- Thought Leadership
- Developing useful thought leadership content to establish Meyocks’ position as a trusted advisor to our clients.
- Team Mentorship & Development
- Leading and inspiring the social team, mentoring and developing talent, and collaborating closely with cross-functional departments to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence within the agency.
- Mentoring and guiding team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Conducting regular one-on-ones and performance evaluations, setting individual and team goals.
- Addressing challenges and providing constructive feedback to ensure team motivation and cohesion.
- Additional responsibilities and supporting tasks as needed.
- Proven track record of building, executing and scaling successful social media marketing programs.
- Experience managing social content calendars, influencer programs, and leveraging user-generated content to grow communities effectively.
- Expert understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, X and YouTube.
- Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms, including:
- Social listening – e.g. Brandwatch, Infegy or equivalent tools.
- Online reputation management – e.g. Reputation.com, Bazaarvoice or equivalent tools.
- Influencers evaluation/identification – e.g. Tagger or equivalent tools.
- Social channel management – e.g. Agorapulse or equivalent tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Expertise in creating and giving compelling presentations for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team management competencies with a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using project management software (Asana preferred).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in social media management.
- Proven track record of working on successful social media initiatives, particularly in an agency setting.
- Prior management of teams or departments is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Overnight travel may be required 6-8 times per year for client meetings and industry conferences.
